I always have a thing for mooncake and my mother for donuts because they are just so delicious and sweet! Just imagine indulging in a lotus seed paste and taking a bite of that blueberry cream cheese donut! MMMHMM MMM! It’s heaven! (Exclamation point because I am thinking about my mooncake while writing).
Everybody probably needs something sweet for snacks or even after a meal, be it – ice cream, cookies, cakes or brownies. Let’s admit it, these treats we love aren’t healthy because all of them contain, uhm obviously, sugar and they are processed!
My mother and I are both health conscious. We try to keep our sugar intake in a minimum level daily and if you do too, then you are on the right article. Just this week, my mother had a day off at work and fortunately, I’m on term break so we grabbed the opportunity to make a tasty and filling snack.

If you are wondering what these are, they are called crunchy cacao balls and just like any other healthy snack, these protein balls are easy to make, take only very little time to prepare, and are packed with protein. They only contain a few ingredients that will still surely leave you feeling full for hours!
Our Crunchy cacao balls recipe:
- 1 Cup Oats
- ½ Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- 2 tablespoons of Cocoa Powder
- Pecan Nuts (You can use other nuts depending on your choice.)
- Desiccated Coconut
You may also add a teaspoon of honey if you like.
All you have to do is mix them together, form them into small balls, coat balls with desiccated coconut, place them in a container, and put it in the fridge for an hour. That’s it and you may enjoy!
